Elevator or Lift is used to vertical transportation of peoples or freight between floor levels of the building, in the modern elevator technology the machine uses are traction types in this system the sheaves connected to the machine with rope or cable looped, rope or cable one side attached to the elevator cabin/car and other is attached to elevator counter-weight when the elevator cabin rises the counter-weight move lowers, these are the basics details of an elevator system following are the other details about elevator system.
Machine Room
Machine room is a location where elevator machines and control systems are installed, mostly elevators are with machine rooms but it also can be installed without machine rooms. With machine room installation the machine room constructed top of the shaft and there should be an RCC slab between overhead and machine room.
Hoist-way/Shaft
The elevator installed in the vertical hoist-way or shaft, mostly these shafts are constructed of Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC)and the shaft also can be steel structured. In the traction elevator system the hoist-way should be with a proper pit, landing floors opening, required overhead and machine room.
Pit
The elevator pit is space below the surface of the lowest landing floor finished level. It allows the elevator floor to be level with the lowest landing floor level. The space below the material of the elevator car would be when it is at lowest landing floor.
Overhead
The space area from the upper finished floor level to bottom slab of machine room within the shaft. This space is to provide place for elevator operation machinery when elevator at upper finished floor level. It can be determined by the elevator application.
